It was very odd, having to share a den with new cats. Admittedly, Morningpw almost missed her warm mother’s side and the feeling of safety it brought. But those days were gone, and the new apprentice would have to take on a slew of responsibilities to grapple with training. Fadedmist seemed like a wonderful tom to mentor her, but the tasks she were given were very tedious. Cleaning out every cat’s den, searching for moss to replace it…oh, and she could never leave camp alone. Not that she would want to, but the she-cat could only picture the rule getting on the nerve of some of the older apprentices. As all of this ran through her head, Morningpaw felt less and less like rising up and leaving. Waking up in the morning was the hardest task for her, particularly when her stress got to her.
But she had to.
Slowly, Morningpaw rose to her feet and stretched out her body, giving a yawn before exiting the apprentice’s den. A sudden rush of dread and anxiety filled her; she felt like all eyes were on her, narrowed and full of judgment. Ears down, the apprentice quickly trotted over to the fresh-kill pile, pale eyes sweeping the large amounts of prey for the smallest one possible. She’d feel bad taking anything else, considering she has yet to catch much. After a few more moments of inspecting, Morningpaw swooped down and grabbed a mouse and retreated to a shady spot near the corner of camp. She began chewing the piece of prey, the little dilute calico hoping to not be noticed by any anyone.
