"How long?" I say, how long will you relive the things that are gone? Oh yeah, The devil's on your back but I know you can shake him off

For once it seemed that the chilling storms and blasts of wind had halted, and new leaf had the clan bustling. This would resemble a chance opportunity for the clan. Every patrol would be out rushing to replenish the freshkill pile. Mudtail was no exception usually, but he had been given a different task. He was to search all the boarders to make sure there were no invaders. Better weather often tempted the fool hardy and desperate to challenge those that even for a fleeting moment were more successful then themselves. Thoughts such as these could hardly dent the wise and free spirited mood of Mudtail. He was determined to enjoy himself even on an assignment such as this. Truthfully he didn`t mind defending the boarders. It was a noble task, but he also knew that the prey count was a more demanding matter. Still he couldn`t and wouldn`t complain.
His brown tail curved happily in the air as he walked along. His eyes were closed, while a broad smile played his brown muzzle. Mudtail hummed as he almost skipped along, his paws barely leaving prints in the dense snow. Only every so often would a slight breeze sway his albino fur with its currents. A light song danced in his head, but not being a fool he kept his ears alert for any danger. Still the song wouldn`t vanish from his thoughts. Stopping he discreetly opened each eye before closing it when he was satisfied that no one else was near. Then he broke out in a pleasant song filled with heart.
" Tis a happy fellow that walks through here, He treads lightly, though others should fear, Casting a glance before the falling shadows of his friends, He regales a tale of which they may contend, For he is strong and brave, and they are many and bold, They do not doubt the words of there ancestors, or so i'm told, To greet the day fairly and with open minds, Would also mean that we shed these twisted binds, A hero awaits those whom ask To ponder I will not my next task, Rewards are few, but fellowship is due, Oh those fiends should quake because they are truly few"
This he repeated several times, his voice booming to its meaning. His own code of conduct and beliefs were deeply woven in the song. Strutting peacefully he neared the border between shadowclan and thunderclan, and looked around. The others in his patrol had to be around somewhere, and he still had to circle back to the Windclan border. If he ended early, maybe even a hunt to end his venture.

You know it's funny how freedom can make us feel contained Yeah When the muscles in our legs aren't used to all the walking I know if you could snap both your fingers that you'd escape with me But in the meantime, I'll just wait here and listen to you when you speak... or scream

Lone patrols were very common for Icestar, the tom enjoying taking a break from the pressure of his rank. Peacefully walking among the marshes cleared his mind and soothed him, particularly the buzz of noises from the frogs, crickets, and who knows what other creatures that inhabited the swamp. He was heading towards the nearest Clan's borders, where the the marsh ended and the other Clan's territory began, when a loud voice burst into song not to far away.
Icestar was completely caught off guard by this, his blue eyes widening and ears pressing against his skull. It took him a moment to recognize the voice as Mudtail's, a warrior in his Clan. With an amused snort, the leader padded forward until the brown-pointed tom was barely a tree-length from him, and called out a greeting, "Mudtail!" Icestar wondered if his call would break the warrior from his trance, and decided to do so again. "Mudtail!" The leader reached his side, an amused half smile on his maw, "Hope you weren't tasked with catching prey this morning, you may have some...trouble." His voice was relatively friendly, if not with just a touch of sarcasm, but still a warmer tone only heard by his fellow clan-mates. It was Ivymask's job to give tasks to the Clan, so he was sometimes completely oblivious as to who was doing what.

The eyes of the tom snapped open at the sounding of another voice. Looking behind him, his eyes fell upon the form of the leader Icestar. Now he felt a little foolish at having been caught in his jovial manner, and was a little caught off guard as to what to say. Thankfully the pure white tom spoke for him starting off his embarresment. His voice seemed friendly, but you never knew with Icestar. Mudtail liked him and felt he was an excellent leader, however he had been known to bite off a few tails if you stepped out of line. His face seemed humerous though considering the circumstances, so he took it with a flourish. " I was tasked with border patrol this morning Icestar, not hunting. Ivymask sent me and some others out on patrol this morning. If we finished early I had intended to hunt, must have gotten carried away with my mood though." He smiled showing he didn't care anymore at being found out. "I will try to not scare the prey from now on, and I feel foolish having not worried about that from the start, sorry Icestar." He nodded his head in acknowledgement.
