How had I ended up here? Before me was what seemed to be the entire pokemon kingdom, bowing to me as the roars of the legendary beasts echoing around me. To be destined for greatness, it’s such a cliché and overthought concept. That somebody is just born with destiny written for them. But perhaps it did happen. From being the victim to the hero, is that possible? I guess I should start from the beginning, from when my destiny truly began.

Author's Note: I got permission from the admins, and even encouragement from some folks, to post a few of my stories here so I'm going to let you guys be the only ones to read this current story "Destined" that I am writing. I am very open for suggestions! And criticisms that are reasonable. By that I mean let's just be respectful please. Also, I do write more than pokemon and I'll likely introduce a Warriors fanfic later on if this goes over well. So thanks for reading!

Chapter 1: Begin Again Meeting Raikou ”Joshua, would you hold still?” The mother smiled as her young one laughed and rolled away. He was always a hyper one. Everybody said that came from his father but it mattered very little as he was healthy and happy. No parent could ask for more. Sarah stood up and laughed as she chased after her son. “I’m going to get you!” He squealed and tried to crawl under the couch where he would hide. His mother could only laugh at his antics. Light brown eyes gazed back at her, willing her to try and find him under this couch. Oh, how much he just looked like his father at times like this. It sent her back to memories of her own childhood, playing with a rambunctious neighbor boy that would later become her husband.
Then the door opened
“Sarah, Josh, I’m home,” a middle aged man called as he set his bag down. Sarah turned to look and speak but was interrupted when a tiny boy ran past her to tackle the legs of his father.
“Daddy!” Josh screamed as he tugged at his father’s pant leg. “Daddy, daddy!”
“Welcome home, dear,” Sarah greeted with a peck on his cheek. “Somebody missed you.” The father grinned and picked up his son, giving him a warm hug in reply.
“I can tell!” he chortled. The mother grinned as she saw her child and his father hugging in that moment. They looked so alike. Both with their light brown eyes, so full of spark and life, had a grin that could warm any heart. Taro’s black hair was peppered now with signs of graying. This was hinted as well by the creasing lines on his face. What others didn’t see was the exhaustion upon his face that was covered from his joy to see his son. With Taro’s company taking a swift downward spiral to bankruptcy, he worked twice as many hours as he used to, and often multiple hours were spent purely at home to prepare presentations and organize meetings.
“Why don’t you and Josh clean up?” she suggested. “I’ll have dinner on the table in a moment.” Taro gave a small nod before neatly kicking his shoes off and carrying Josh to the bathroom.
“Alright young man!” he bellowed in a fake commander’s voice. “We have a job on our hands! What is that job you ask?” Josh laughed and saved his hands in his father’s face.
“Clean! Clean hands!” Taro grinned and sat Josh on the counter with an affirmative nod.
“Correct! Now are you ready? Step one- warm up!”
Josh reached for the handles and fussed with them to get water to pour from the sink. “Warm! Warm!” he repeated like some kind of chatot. Taro had to go in and fix the temperature to assure his son wouldn’t burn his own hands from attempting to help. Following such, he helped apply soap to the small hands offered to him. Being a parent meant even these sparked memories. When Josh was first born, he had been so small and those tiny hands wrapped around Taro’s larger finger had been such a realization that this was his son.
“Soap! Soap!” Josh crowed again.
“Right, private! Soap! Now we wash, wash, wash!” In unison, the two scrubbed their hands clean, sometimes laughing when suds would land on their clothing. Yet it all came to an end, they rinsed and dried their hands, before Taro helped Josh down to the floor. “Now stay clean until dinner. I’m going to help mom set the table, okay?” Josh nodded to his father who then left. Since he had time for himself, the only thing on his mind was to go play with some toys. As usual of any young child. He ran off to his bedroom, picking up the stuffed toy he had affectionately named ShrewShrew. It was a sandshrew and quite originally named by the child himself.
What he hadn’t noticed was the open window which was allowing warm summer air to breeze in. There was another thing that was eyeing that window though. From outside, a yellow pokemon hoped up and scrambled to climb to the window. A few more brown and yellow pokemon scattered nearby, hungrily watching. They had sensed it, sensed the power coming from this place. And it seemed delicious. “Zee,” one wheezed, using its powers to help its comrade in through the window.
It landed and looked towards the boy that was talking to a stuffed toy. This. This was the one that had sent its clan into a hungry rage. Licking its lips, the hypno drew closer. “Hypno…. Hypno….” Josh heard the voice from behind and turned his head.
“Pokemon?” he muttered, getting up but hugging his toy close to his chest. “Daddy? Mommy? Help!” The hypno lifted its hand from which a small medallion hung.
Left it swung.
Then right.
His parents heard not a thing over the clank of dishes and from the farthest room, being Joshua’s. Hypno moved closer and Joshua made no sign of moving away. This was what he desired. The boy drew an expressionless look and even moved closer in return! The drowzee outside were bellowing with excitement as the boy was under their spell. This was it. The hypno swiftly grabbed the boy and rushed for the window, hoping out easier than he had climbed in. Drowzee stared, even moved closer in excitement but the hypno leader waved them off. He swayed the pendulum. Joshua obeyed and followed after it. Their prey was captured.
Sarah had finished setting up the dinner table and was now going to the bedroom she had assumed Joshua was. “Josh, it’s time for dinner, sweetheart.” But he wasn’t there. He must still be playing hide and seek, of course! So she went to the living room and looked under the couch. “Found you!”
He wasn’t there.
“Taro, where is Josh?” Sarah got back up and frowned, thinking of all his favorite hiding spots.
“Oh, I think he went to his room,” Taro replied.
“He’s not there, Taro.” The father looked up, casually shrugging.
“Maybe he went outside to his swing set? You know he loves to go on that thing even without us.” Sarah felt panic set in as she went to the window and saw an empty swing set. It dawned on her that she could not find her son.
“Taro! He’s not there! Joshua, you better come out this instant! I am done playing games.” Even if Sarah shouted and stormed through the house, nobody would respond. After half an hour of looking everywhere, they called the police but even they could not find her son. They only thing they concluded was that he must have crawled out the window and into the forest.
Dusk was starting to set in before the police and their growlithe were sent to search the forest. By then, the hypno and drowzee were nearly to their cave to devour the dreams of this boy. His aura screamed with delicious content and they were hasty in action. One pokemon had been strolling the forest on this late night and gave no heed to the hypno and drowzee normally.
Raikou huffed and watched the dumb looking beasts wail at one another and rush into their small den, perhaps in preparation of making another pokemon a poor victim to their dream eating. “What monsters,” the electric dog snarled. He went to turn away, continue towards the lake, but caught sight of something following the hypno. Indeed, he was correct that something was, but it wasn’t some rattata or a machop. It was a young boy that looked like he was caught in a dream. Too unaware to notice his dreams and his mind were about to be eaten and left for a hollow shell. “A child?” Raikou then growled. Normally, he did not involve himself with humans. He could only remember the numerous amount of times he had nearly been captured by them or when they had wished him ill.
Yet this was just a boy! So young that he could not possibly have left his nest on his own. Intervening seemed like the only option. The legendary Thunder Pokemon lunged ahead, swiping at the drowzee to scatter them. The hypno was startled but did not give up its prey that easily. It prepared an attack, a swirling power that hinted towards what it was going to use, Psychic. But Raikou had none of this and roared when he lunged the Hypnosis Pokemon. Large fangs grabbed its yellow body in a deadly crunch. A swing of the head and this hypno was sent bowling into its drowzee companions. Nobody stood a chance against raikou! They scattered into the forest after that swift battle leaving the boy alone with the legendary dog.
Joshua was freed of the hypnosis and shook his head. In his hand was the arm of his sandshrew companion, one button eye gone. Around him, towering, dark trees that were far from the warm environment of his home. Before him, an even larger yellow beast that sparked with electricity. What could he do but start to cry? Alone, lost, and afraid, he wanted to run but found his legs locked up.
“What to do now?” Raikou muttered to himself. He had no clue where this boy came from and had no direction in where to turn him to. “Well, go on. Get home,” he decided, turning to leave. Then something attached itself to his leg. No doubt it was that boy. When he looked, it confirmed so. Joshua was clinging to his leg and wept into his fur. “Kid, go home. I cannot take you wish me.” He shook his leg but that kid help tight.
Great!
A crack of thunder came from above and he was sure that wasn’t him. Perhaps a storm was on its way? In any case, that was not safe and Raikou dreaded the idea of this boy being stuck in the storm more than taking him along. “Alright, cub,” was the relenting response. Raikou turned around and gently picked up Joshua, helping him up to settle between his shoulder blades. “You stay there, nice and still. We’re going to see if Suicune can find you a place to stay.” No doubt this would surprise his brother.
When rain started to fall, Joshua hugged tight to the warm yet electrified fur of his caretaker. He was so tired and worn out from this experience that he soon dozed off, still resting on the legendary pokemon’s back. [/blockquote]
